MSI Ultra-Thin Notebook Launch (MSI-X340)

CORBELL Technology together with MSI (MicroStar International) today officially launched the MSI X340 Ultra Slim notebook at SERENITY Spanish Bar & Restaurant at VivoCity (Singapore).

One of the interesting things worth mentioning about the event is the audience that CORBELL decided to invite. Before I get to that though as I sat and chatted with a fellow blogger MoleMole it was no surprise that she did not know who MSI was and asked me a little more about who they are.

So back to the invited audience….there was traditional print media, Internet media, Bloggers and Electronic Forum members. This is new and interesting because it takes a big cross-section of users and I though it was a good idea. Anyway enough of my jibberish.

The star of the show was on display for all to look, touch, feel, carry and admire. It closely resembles a fruity product that captured many hearts with the design, engineering, and lightness. The MSI also features on lightness (weight), slimness (engineering) and aesthetics (design).

It really is thin at only 19.8mm at the thickess portion. That makes it as thin or thinner than some mobile phones. It is only 0.4mm thicker than the fruity machine, lighter by 20grams (according to specifications) and yet sports a higher pixel resolution 13-inch LED Backlighted LCD screen.

With so little available in the way of real-estate for ports the MSI X-340 still manages to incorporate an external VGA CRT, HDMI, 2x USB, Microphone, Headphone and Wired LAN port connectors.

Check out the battery pack, it is super thin but wide and flat. The width and height of the battery pack does affect the ability for the X-340 to be easily upgraded because there is no direct and apparent way to upgrade or service the unit from the underside. The maximum RAM capacity is 2-gigabytes.

As the event came to an end all the attendees waited for the…Lucky Draw! Sandra from Corbell decided to do something a little different for drawing the names and was able to pull it off. The task, throw all the ballot entries into the air and then pluck only one from all that are fluttering and falling away. Well, Sandra did it but alas it was not me who was the lucky one. Instead, Mr Koh from VR-Zone was the lucky individual. Congratulations on the lucky draw and I’m sure he’ll love it.

So, with that here’s a parting shot of the event venue at VivoCity along with a photo of some of the tapas I assume is on their menu. It was delicious!
