It can be truly addictive if you can always be “connected” to access and interact with your Facebook account. So, Sony Ericsson Mobile’s PR agency Hill & Knowlton (H&K) devised an interesting way to get across the message to the media. They devised a game a la the Amazing Race come Treasure Hunt. It is actually an ingenious way for H&K to spread the word. Just imagine the audience that Sony reached out to by tapping onto the 20+ Facebook accounts. Especially true for some of those attending with 1,000 or more FaceBook friends.

Bloggers United Group (BUG)

There were four groups of between 5 and 7 players and the C510 was used live with Facebook. The frequent updates we tracked and timed and the group that finished the assigned tasks the fastest with the least amount of mistakes walked away with a new mobile phone.

Group 4 emerged the victors! Geez, I’m in Group 4…the guy behind the camera.

I’ve got a nice new shiney C510 of the black variety. Now to figure out what to do with it because I don’t want to be sucked into the Facebook vacuum. Be aware that in order for the mobile access to function with the C510 you’ll need a mobile broadband account. I’m not exactly sure what kind of bandwidth transfers you’ll incurr because I am not privy to the data being transferred. So, be careful if you do not have one of those unlimited mobile broadband accounts. You may get a whopping surprise after FB’ing for the entire month.

The C510 Cyber-shot Phone looks nice and neat feature having easy access to Facebook. Too bad Canada doesn’t have this phone. but we do have the k810i that has 5Mega Pixel Camera. I agree about why leave Wi-Fi out!!
but still for 3.2 mp camera takes alright photos

  4. Hihi! Nice meeting you yday. Having fun with the phone?

    • It was really amazing race day yesterday at the Sony Ericsson Mobile event. I’ve been playing with my phone a little so that I can complete a product review. The wife has been eyeing it to replace her trusty old K800i. She didn’t quite like the bulge at the back of the K800i and since the specs are about the same with the C510 she’ll be happy. Wonder if I should stop myself from getting her the red Nokia E71 for her birthday this month?
